Tours and Attractions on the Fleurieu Peninsula

The Fleurieu Peninsula offers many attractions and a selection of tours.
Just some of the highlights include Kangaroo Island, the awesome Coorong and the mouth of the mighty Murray River. Plus, of course, the extraordinary coastal bush, beaches and cliffs.

Kangaroo Island

Sealink

There are various options to visit this wonderful island ... the third largest off Australia.

For those whose time is limited, there is the one day "KI Highlights Day Tour". Visit one of the Island's best known and unique attractions – Seal Bay – where you can take a guided beach walk with a National Parks Guide amongst a colony of Australian sea-lions. After a BBQ lunch, travel on to Flinders Chase National Park – home to kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and Cape Barren geese. Visit the amazing, naturally weathered formations of Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch, and watch the fur seals diving and playing in the surf.

There is also the "Seal Bay Discovery Tour". Visit Clifford's Honey Farm for an informative insight into beekeeping where you can taste and purchase the delicious local honey products.

Then enjoy a delicious two course lunch before heading to Parndana Wildlife Park, a refuge for orphaned native animals and birds. In the afternoon we travel on to Seal Bay for a beach walk with a National Parks Guide amongst a breeding colony of Australian sealions. We then drive to Kingscote to view the daily pelican feeding, a spectacular event for all to enjoy.

If you can spend longer, then there is the two day "KI Coast to Coast" overnight package. This package combines two day tours exploring Kangaroo Island's spectacular coastal scenery, attractions and cottage industries, plus much more ...

If a self-drive tour appeals, you can either take your own car or hire one there and explore the island at your leisure.

Whatever you prefer, we can assist in finding the most suitable options.

Spirit of the Coorong

Cruises on the Coorong

Cruise the pristine waters of the Coorong National Park into a timeless, beautiful blend of waterways and lagoons. See unique flora, fauna and a spectacular dune system with the backdrop of the thundering Great Southern Ocean.

There are either full day or half day tours, or just a trip to the Murray Mouth. Tours are conducted by experienced local operators, in modern well equipped craft, with meals and refreshments on board.

The walks include the mouth of Australia’s longest river " The Murray". Stroll across the Younghusband Peninsula to view the Great Southern Ocean.

You will also have the opportunity of inspecting an ancient Aboriginal site.

It is also possible to stay overnight on one of the craft and take two days to explore the waterways and dunes.

Another option is spend up to five days cruising Lake Alexandrina, Lake Albert and the Coorong aboard a 9.4m yacht that takes up to four passengers. Start each day from a sheltered anchorage and enjoy the sheer pleasure and sense of peace on a sailing boat.

Either, just sit back and relax, or participate in the day to day running of the boat. Five days all included.

The Victor Harbor Winery is delightfully located in th picturesque Hindmarsh Valley on the main Adelaide road 8km before Victor.

Whale Watching Being less than an hour's drive from Adelaide, Victor Harbor and the surrounding coastline offers numerous locations for whale watching. The first arrivals are usually in mid-May and the season extends through to October. Southern Right Whales have a unique affinity for coastal waters where they come to court, give birth or raise their calves. This makes them perfect for land-based whale watching and many of the best vantages points are only a few minutes from the township.

Regional visitor guides, brochures on attractions and accommodation, as well as local maps and advice on the most scenic spots are all available to plan your self-drive tour. As the district office for the RAA, we have touring maps and aids for Members as well.
